A note on Transgender and Gay people in our society

A note on Transgender and Gay people in our society

Transgender people in our society are deprived of many things – proper education, health and hygiene, job opportunities and foremost, respect as humans. They should have the same right as any normal citizen of the country. They should get the right to education, the right to a job and the right to respect as other people of the country enjoy. They are not born to clap and beg on the streets or perform signing and dance at other’s homes at some family ceremony as their sole way of earning their livelihood. They should get equal opportunity in upbringing, education, health and hygiene and a respectful and honourable job in society according to their abilities. They themselves should come out of their social stigma and prove themselves as an equal citizen in nation-building.

Similarly, gay people also get harassment in society. They get bullied and blackmailed for money and are even subject to sexual harassment in order to keep their identity hidden from others. Whom they trust, they cheat them on several occasions. These people get trapped easily against fake love, fake and illusive world, and sometimes momentary pleasure. And this is possible only because they cannot open up to their parents and known ones before opening themselves to unknown and unworthy people in society. Gay people try to hide themselves from society and from their own parents, friends and relatives because of social taboos and fear of shame, and that’s why others make use of them very easily.

Love doesn’t matter with gender, and it cannot be forcefully done too. Similarly, sexual orientation and liking cannot be driven by any social rules and society. Every individual has their own right to like or dislike, love or hate according to his/her own opinion and choice. At the same time, it’s also absolutely a personal and private matter between two people that there is no need to showcase in any special way to society. In my opinion, LGBT people neither require any special month as Pride month to show their likes and thoughts to society nor do they need to paint themselves with rainbow colours or dress in some funny way to show their protest against all ill-treatment from society. What is needed is joining hand in hand with every man and woman, taking steps together to build a society where everyone gets harmony, love, respect and peace of mind in their own way.

But as it is not happening, the most affected people are the young or adolescent gay boys who do not know what to do or whom to approach for a helping hand. And in that process, they got trapped by others and became easy prey for money or even sexual assault. Also, transgender people who feel they are trapped in the wrong body are subject to harassment in society or are a matter of laughing and joking, which should not be. I hope that through my words, I tried my best to put some light on the condition and suffering LGBTQ people go through in society and hope that one day sooner or later, society will change and the earth will become a safer home for everyone.

About my book

Title: Do Not Leave Me

Subtitle: A saga of love amidst nature. (A Different Love Story from Thailand)

Genre: Drama (LGBT, Boy Love, drama, suspense, crime)

Do Not Leave Me, a book to read on Happy Pride Month

Genre: LGBTQ (Gay love)

A story that will take you from the high rises of Bangkok to the paddy fields in Kalasin and you will find yourself amidst nature with beautiful waterfalls, monasteries and ancient pagodas.

In a world full of selfish dispositions, it is indeed a difficult proposition to come across who can shower unconditional love, care and togetherness. The vices of humans know no boundaries and the yearning for wealth often propels people to take up dark and nefarious means which create unsavoury circumstances within a peaceful ecosystem. The desire to acquire wealth through unethical means has been causing myriads of misery for mankind. This fiction depicts this unhealthy demeanour quite vividly.

Another aspect that stands out beautifully in this story is the verity of human relationships. In a selfish and uncaring world, it is indeed rare to discover people with the chaste intent to help others, unconditionally. The world thrives on empathy, compassion and co-operation. Wealth has always been wrongly proclaimed to be the parameter for measuring success. The real measure of attainment is however, the acquisition of honest and pure relationships. This story is bears a strong evidence to this statement.

The story goes like this –

Pavel is a 19-year-old spoiled brat busy with his multi-millionaire lifestyle. Booze, bars and girls are his preferred pastime. However, such a reckless lifestyle comes with a price. A gang of thieves assault him and take him far away from his home in Bangkok, Thailand. When Pavel returns to consciousness, he no longer remembers who he was.

Noi is a hardworking young man aged 23 comes upon Pavel by a twist of fate. He invites the amnesiac Pavel to his home. Pavel and Noi grow close together. In the meantime, the thieves are still searching for their booty aka Pavel. Will they finally find Pavel? Elsewhere, Pavel’s father is also searching for his missing son. Will he be able to locate his son before the thieves make good their threat? And what will happen to the budding love between Pavel and Noi?

Why have I written this book?

Do Not Leave Me is an extraordinary tale of love contemplating the variegated spiritual options that we often stumble upon in our lives. It is the story of two disparate young men Pavel (an Indian teen boy) and Noi (a Thai young man) meeting in strange moments of their lives to discover the beauty and magnificence of relationship. Being this my first gay love fiction, I tried my best to deal with the sensitive issue of gay love and create an emotional quotient in the world of LGBTQ philosophy. I have given my honest effort to fabricate a gripping mystery around the characters’ growth, development, rise and fall. Through this book, the reader will get an opportunity to have a mental tour of Thailand, especially Bangkok, Kalasin and the village Bon-Non Yang.
