In the realm of academics, as a student in the eighth grade, I often find myself facing a formidable opponent in the academic arena – Mathematics. It’s like a complex puzzle that sometimes seems unsolvable, making me scratch my head and wonder why the numbers and symbols refuse to align in a way that makes sense to me. However, I recognise that even though Mathematics is a tough nut to crack, it is an essential subject that holds the key to unlocking many doors in life. Therefore, I must persevere and continue to carry on, undeterred by the challenges it presents.
Mathematics is not just about solving equations and memorising formulas; it’s a fundamental skill that permeates various aspects of our daily lives. From calculating grocery expenses to understanding the patterns in nature, Math is an integral part of our world. Mathematics extends beyond mere equation-solving and formula memorization; it is a foundational skill woven into the fabric of our daily existence. From tabulating grocery expenses to discerning patterns in nature, Math intricately shapes our world. As a student, I am aware that mastering this subject opens up countless opportunities for personal and academic growth.
Life, much like Mathematics, is filled with uncertainties and unexpected twists and turns. By persevering through the difficulties posed by Math, I am learning a valuable life lesson – the importance of resilience. Just as I don’t give up on solving a math problem, I shouldn’t give up when faced with life’s challenges. It’s about developing a mindset that embraces challenges as opportunities for growth and learning.
In conclusion, even though Mathematics might be a tough subject for many young students, I recognise its significance in shaping everyone’s understanding of the world and honing crucial skills for the future. Now as a teacher, I understand the importance of facing challenges head-on, whether in the classroom or life. Life’s challenges may seem daunting, but just like a tricky math problem, they are meant to be tackled, learned from, and ultimately conquered. So without fearing Mathematics, if you all build a strong relationship with the subject, with the process of understanding the logic and practice regularly, Mathematics will not be a fear.
For my students, I do care
For all those difficult sums, they stare.
When the concepts of Maths bend over in boughs
The students stare as helpless as cows.
We are astonished to see the time pass
In solving the sums together on the grass.
The students scattered under the trees in the daylight
Makes it magnificent like the stars at night.
You come and wait a minute to give a glance
These future seeds making the digits dance.
They are worried about answers, if they can
Solved or got stuck in the middle or just begun?
For my students, I do care
Let the world come and stare.
