Hello friends and my dear students,
In our journey with numbers and programming, we often explore number problems with unique properties, such as Armstrong Numbers, Krishnamurthy Numbers, Kaprekar Numbers, Smith Numbers, and others. While solving a particular four-digit number problem, I stumbled upon a fascinating property that, upon searching on platforms like Google and ChatGPT, appeared to be undocumented and unexplored in number theory.
Special Sequence Number
A Special Sequence Number is a four-digit number where the digits follow a sequential order, such as 1234 or 4567. If we split the number into two halves and compute the average of their sum, the resulting two-digit number appears in the middle of the original number.
Examples:
- N = 1234
Average of the two halves: (12+34)/2 = 23
Middle subset: 23 ✅ - N = 5678
Average of the two halves: (56+78)/2 = 67
Middle subset: 67 ✅ - N = 1357
Average of the two halves: (13+57)/2 = 35
Middle subset: 35 ✅
Additionally, this property holds true for the reverse of a sequential number:
- N = 4321
Average of the two halves: (43+21)/2 = 32
Middle subset: 32 ✅
However, if the digits do not follow a sequential pattern, the property does not hold:
- N = 1395
Average of the two halves: (13+95)/2 = 54
No match in the original number ❌ - N = 7658
Average of the two halves: (76+58)/2 = 67
No match in the original number ❌
This fascinating discovery adds another intriguing pattern to the world of number theory. I encourage you all to explore more about such magical properties in mathematics. Who knows? You might uncover the next hidden gem in number sequences! Happy learning and keep exploring!
